The Ford A4LD, 4R44E/55E and 5R44E/55E bell housing bushing is not separately serviced because the assembly requires the bushing to be finished in place to achieve proper I.D. dimension. The use of aftermarket pre-finished bushings may result in pump drive hub interference or pump leakages due to variation in installed I.D. Variations in the bell housing bushing bore diameter and location precludes the use of a conventional pre-finished replacement bushing. Sonnax® finish-in-place bell housing/pump cover bushing 56001X replicates the OE bell housing and bushing assembly. This bushing also services finish-in-place pump cover bushings in 5R55N, 5R55W and 5R55S transmissions.
Bushing has a steel-backed, bronze lining for better wear resistance
Finishing in place allows for proper I.D. and location
Works in either bell housing or pump cover location, depending on the unit
Note
Finish-in-place style bushing requires advanced machining to ensure proper I.D. and location after installation.
Symptoms:
Repeat front seal leakage
Worn pump bushing
Worn converter hub
Cause:
Excessive hub-to-bushing clearance and soft babbitt bushing material.
Correction:
